Our Parish Offers
This program is an introduction to the Catholic faith for children 3-5 years old. It is offered on Sundays during the 10:00a.m. English mass and 1:00 Spanish mass, from mid-September to early May. Hands-on learning includes craft projects, singing, stories, play and bible reading based on the scripture readings of the day. Volunteer adults and teens are always welcome!
CATECHIST TRAINING (PATHWAYS)
The Diocese of Richmond implements the need expressed by the Catholic Church to sufficiently train and support her catechists by offering a catechist training program called Pathways. All parish catechists in our diocese are invited to attend this one-day, instructor-led, interactive program of prayer, learning, and reflection. This training is for all who lend a helping hand on the faith to adults, youth, and children in our parishes. Locations and offering vary, but are available on the diocesan website at
SAFE ENVIRONMENT POLICY (VIRTUS)
The protection of minors and the provision of a safe environment for all programs of the Catholic Church in which minors are present, is the utmost concern of the Diocese of Richmond and our parish. In pursuing this goal, all who are 18 years or older who serve in programs which involve children or youth, are provided training in safe environment issues through VIRTUS, a national training program. These sessions are held at Blessed Sacrament as well as other various locations around the Diocese. It is a free program.
Our goal at Blessed Sacrament is to help the children of our parish grown deeper in their Catholic faith and love for God. This program is for all parish children, grades 1-5, and is offered on Sunday mornings from 11:30-12:40 during the school year. Registrations begin in July and typically close at the end of September. Volunteers are needed as catechists, aides, coordinators and hall monitors.
VBS (Vacation Bible School)
Children have the opportunity to grow in their faith and love of God as they participate in crafts, singing, Bible stories, games and much more as they explore all that God means to us! This program is available to children 3 years-old to rising 5th graders and is offered in July from 9am-12noon each day. Adults and teens who are too old to participate are welcome to help out throughout the week.
Think First & Stay Safe
This program is new at Blessed Sacrament and is being offered 2-3 times a year in order to help the children of our parish know that they have a voice and can stand up for themselves. Currently it is offered for 4-7 year-olds at no cost. This is just one way we are striving to keep the children of our parish safe.
